I recently got to spend an absoulutely beautiful weekend at my parents home in Woodinville, WA. The weather was incredible, and the beauty of the Seattle area is pretty much unbeatable when the weather cooperates! Since I started taking pet photos I haven't had time on my previous visits to take some images of my parents two dogs, Brewster (Chihuahua) and Angie (Yellow Lab). I made sure to make time over this past weekend so here are a few shots. I loved how green everything was!
Had a lot of fun today shooting for Fido Friendly Magazine at the La' Auberge Resort in Del Mar! Scout was my partner in crime for the day. She is available for adoption at Helen Woodward Animal Center which is also located in Del Mar. She did such an amazing job! She learned to sit and stay in a matter of minutes, and behaved herself in such a hectic environment! If you are looking for a furry addition to your family go check her out soon. She won't last long. :)
My photo friend Maggie Dowdy of Mag & B Photography was nice enough to let me try out/borrow her Canon EF 35 1.4L lens for the next few days! It is such a beautiful lens! Definitely going to be my next photo purchase when I have the dough! Here are a few photos of my little monsters shot with it over the weekend.
Bean is getting a jump-start on this busy week!
Here are just a few of the rad little critters that are calling Helen Woodward their home until they find the right family. Once again, I can't stress how sweet all the pets I met were, and if you are considering adding a furry, four-legged friend to your household go check out your local adoption centers!
I spent the day at Helen Woodward Animal Shelter today taking photos of their adoptable pets, and updating some interior images for their website. It was so much fun! If you are thinking about getting a pet please consider checking out the animals at this wonderful shelter! So many special pets in need of their forever home! This particular pup has four other litter mates, they are all so unbelievably cute I am honestly surprised I didn't come home with one myself!
Natural light is what I am most used to shooting with so I wanted to branch out and try something new. Luckily my two dogs are a good sport when it comes to having their photos taken :) They are definitely used to it by now!
This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking photos of my good friends Aaron and Alicia Bravo, and their two beautiful children, Tallulah and Joaquin. Alicia and Aaron are always so fun to hang with, and two of the kindest you will ever meet! It is crazy to see how fast Tallulah is growing up, not to mention how incredibly beautiful she is. Watch out Aaron, you got trouble on your hands!
I have been so busy with work and planning a wedding that I felt like I had been neglecting my two little beasties! I woke up early this morning and decided it would be a good day to take Colt and Beans to Del Mar dog beach for a little adventure. They are both completely passed out at my feet as I write this so I think it's safe to say they had a good time!
I have such a soft spot for Bull Terriers like Oscar! I have always loved their look and demeanor, they are just so dang cute!!! I thought our shoot might get rained out but the weather ended up being okay with just super heavy fog. Not usually a concern for a photographer in San Diego! We had a good time regardless, and got some great shots of Oscar. He is eleven years old and still looking great which is really impressive for a dog of his size, and testament to his loving family! :)
While I was up in Seattle for the holidays I had the chance to go watch my Dad and his friend Jerry put their two dogs through their paces. Angie (my dad's yellow lab) and Masi (Jerry's golden retriever) have both been trained as hunt trial retrievers and they are absolutely amazing to see in action! The dogs know hand signals for right, left, back, forward and can pretty much be directed wherever the owner pleases in order to retrieve fallen birds, or in this case rubber bumpers. The dogs seem to love the challenge, and whine with excitement before their turn!
It was freezing this morning, and I am not exaggerating it was a brisk 36 degrees this morning in Encinitas!!! The cold didn't slow Parker down one bit. This dog can seriously fly! The light ended up being beautiful (once it came up!) and it was such a pleasure to shoot such a beautiful, sweet and athletic pup :)
Today I had the pleasure of shooting three adorable pooches! JoJo and Tres had so much personality, and Scarlett was such a wise soul! All the dogs had fun, and I did too :)
My awesome neighbors asked if I could shoot a few photos for their Christmas card, and I happily obliged. They have the most beautiful and sweet rottweiler named Bowser who kept trying to be the center of attention! He is too cute!
Today was absolutely beautiful! I love fall/winter in Southern California, it's the best time of year here! The birds seem to love it too!
I had lights set up from a previous shoot and put little Bean under them real quick. I love this dog, she always makes me smile!
I had the pleasure of shooting some family portraits for Sarah and Ryan Hartegan, and their dog Ziggy a couple weekends ago, and it was so much fun! The light was beautiful and Ziggy is always up for a good time. Zig wasn't to sure he felt like sitting photos, he wanted to play! Even with a hyper dog we were still able to get some nice shots of the three of them. Here are a few from the session.
Over the weekend I had a chance to shoot photos of the gorgeous Betania and her two adorable pets Mopsy, and Chloe! Given my background in horses I was super excited to get a chance to do some portraits of Betania and her beautiful Quarter Horse mare. Chloe was perfectly behaved (minus one moment of excitement caused by a speeding golf cart!) and it was so fun to combine my love of horses with photography! Betania's other pet Mopsy was an entirely new experience for me as she is Holland Lop rabbit! Mopsy was a little unsure about having giant lights pointed at her at first, but she settled down in no time. She is absolutely adorable, and I loved how her images turned out!
Here are few from our session!
About month ago I had the chance to go with a friend to watch the morning workouts at the Del Mar Racetrack, and thought it would be a great opportunity to try out some panning techniques. It was hard! The horses were absolutely beautiful, and so fast that I had a hard time finding a shutter speed that kept them sharp enough while at the same time giving them sense of motion. These were the shots that I liked the best from my morning. I also played around a bit with some desaturation of the images, not sure yet how I feel about it but fun to try something different!
