Newborn Session Tips!

-Crank the heat about 30 minutes prior to me getting there. Seriously, the warmer the better. We'll be sweating, but it'll make your babe super sleepy and comfortable for photos. .

-If you have a white noise machine, that can be really helpful. Also, if your baby is taking a pacifier, having one handy can be very helpful in soothing back to sleep.

-I'd love to do some photos in the bedroom as well, so a well-made bed with simple, solid or near-solid bedding would be awesome; And if you would like some photos in the nursery I'm happy to do some of those too.

-For you and your husband, wear something simple and comfortable. Try to avoid clothes with busy patterns or yellows, bright greens, or oranges as they reflect on babies perfect skin and can make their skin color look off.

-I may move some furniture around for lighting and such, but don't worry, I'll move it all back where I found it.

-If you can, try to keep baby awake for an hour or two before I get there, and feed right before I arrive. I know babies are on their own schedules, so don't stress too much about this, but it can make them much sleepier and easier to work with. Newborn shoots usually take an average of about 1.5-2 hours, and we can break as much as needed for feeding and comforting. I will be in no rush, so don't stress if he/she's fussy. We'll work with what whatever he or she gives us! Also, keeping things as quiet and as low-stimulus as possible helps, so it would be great to postpone visitors if at all possible.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, and I will see you and your fam soon!  -Leah
